On October 26th 2006 my mom, Sherri Harder was diagnosed with leukemia. Not only was Sherri my mother, but in partnering with my Dad to pastor the Vineyard in Des Moines, she became mother for an entire church body. In the wake of this big news, Dave Boller and I were talking about where to go from there. I think early in that discussion we determined that the only response was to worship. I know in the few weeks following the diagnosis I personally found myself longing to worship Jesus in deep and new ways. I also saw my parents continue to worship despite the turmoil that our lives had become. As you can imagine, the financial burden for the Harder family has grown substantially during Sherri’s treatment. In an effort to raise funds for the Harder’s financial needs we came up with the concept of One Mic Night. One Mic Night is a group of friends who got together and spent an evening worshiping together. We recorded this night with a lipstick choir mic, and are now offering it for a small fee to raise money for the Harders. We hope that as you listen to this, you first of all give us some grace; there is a reason we don’t do this for a living. Seriously we hope you can worship. May we never forget that come what may, Jesus is still Lord and worthy to be praised.

Memorial day is upon us again. I am on my way to Branson to enjoy time with Shana, the Davis’ and many other good Branson friends. I am looking forward to relaxing, playing guitar and reading a bit. There is peace in my heart when I can sit and laugh with friends while eating “prison” brownies and watching Emily Davis bop up and down to the strum of a guitar. I hope to find myself in that peace a great deal this weekend.
you should only be this lucky.

Have you ever gone to crazy camp? Its kind of like going to the doctor for a cut on your leg and having him explain that you have a cut on your leg. He would then tell you that you are bleeding, you should stop bleeding, and it will be a while until you stop bleeding. After you stop bleeding, he would like you to call him so he can feel better about charging you for his “help”. Oh did I mention that you already knew you had a bleeding cut on your leg? Welcome to crazy camp:
Psalm 63
A David Psalm, When He Was out in the Judean Wilderness
1 God—you’re my God! I can’t get enough of you!
I’ve worked up such hunger and thirst for God,
traveling across dry and weary deserts.
2-4 So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open,
drinking in your strength and glory.
In your generous love I am really living at last!
My lips brim praises like fountains.
I bless you every time I take a breath;
My arms wave like banners of praise to you.
5-8 I eat my fill of prime rib and gravy;
I smack my lips. It’s time to shout praises!
If I’m sleepless at midnight,
I spend the hours in grateful reflection.
Because you’ve always stood up for me,
I’m free to run and play.
I hold on to you for dear life,
and you hold me steady as a post.
9-11 Those who are out to get me are marked for doom,
marked for death, bound for hell.
They’ll die violent deaths;
jackals will tear them limb from limb.
But the king is glad in God;
his true friends spread the joy,
While small-minded gossips
are gagged for good.

This song came out of our church reading the book Outflow by Sjogren/Ping. I thought I would share. I really hammer the surrender souls/heart part when I do this live, but tamed it down for this (rough) recording to avoid peaks.
Feedback please.
